Shannon Barry, Novice
Micheal Christie, Conductor
James Marvel, Stage Director

Ms. Barry performs in her last IU Opera Theatre production as The Novice in Suor Angelica. From the website:

“Puccini's masterly ‘Gianni Schicchi’ is one of those rare sure-fire operas.”

The New York Times

Comedy, tragedy–Puccini!

The second and third in a trio of one-act operas known as The Triptych, each concerning concealment of a death, depict drastically contrasting paths—one to heaven and one to hell.

Suor Angelica (Sister Angelica) was Puccini’s personal favorite—a tragic tale of loss and repentance, an intimate window into one woman’s tortuous emotional journey.

The popular Gianni Schicchi is Puccini’s only comedy—a farce full of greed and conniving—and the last opera he completed. Its “O mio babbino caro” is one of the world’s most beloved arias.

In Italian with English supertitles.
