Tenor Blake Beckemeyer specializes in historically-informed performance, especially in concert performances with modern instruments. Later this summer, he will appear in the Indianapolis Early Music Festival with Estelí Gomez and Mark Cudek and will also sing First Hermit/The Three Hermits, conducted by Walter Huff. This past year, he has appeared on the Bloomington Bach Cantata Project and with IU Opera as Nireno/Giulio Cesare. He also sang the Evangelist/Weihnachtshistorie and Marco/The Gondoliers. Other role credits include Basilio/Le Nozze di Figaro, Laurie/Little Women, coached by the composer, Grimoaldo/Rodelinda, and King Arthur.
As a professional chorister, Beckemeyer has appeared in the Oregon Bach Festival, Charlotte Bach Akademie, Bach Ensemble—Helmuth Rilling, Weimar Bach Cantata Akademie, Columbus (IN) Philharmonic Chorus, IU Opera Chorus, and the choir of Christ Church Cathedral, Indianapolis.
He has won the DePauw University Concerto Competition with the tenor solo from BWV 65 and was a finalist for the Ferid Murad Medal, DePauw’s highest academic honor. He was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Lambda, and holds two degrees summa cum laude, B. M. Vocal Performance and B. A. Mathematics. He studies with Steven Rickards while in his Master’s at the Jacobs School of Music.

Tenor Blake Beckemeyer specializes in historically-informed performances of High Baroque music. Later this summer, he will appear as the First Hermit/The Three Hermits with Walter Huff, with the Minnesota Orchestra in Golijov’s Pasión de San Marco and a recording project with Vox Orchester and Sony of Handel Alexander’s Feast. This past year, he has appeared on the Bloomington Early Music Festival, Bloomington Bach Cantata Project, and with IU Opera as Nireno/Giulio Cesare. He also sang the Evangelist/Weihnachtshistorie.
As a professional chorister, Beckemeyer has appeared in the Oregon Bach Festival, Charlotte Bach Akademie, Bach Ensemble—Helmuth Rilling, Weimar Bach Cantata Akademie, Columbus (IN) Philharmonic Chorus, IU Opera Chorus, and the choir of Christ Church Cathedral, Indianapolis.
